Are you not feeling well? According to researcher Rob van der Linden of the Amsterdam UMC, this often occurs in people with a visual impairment.
🧑🔬 Rob: “Living with a vision condition can be challenging, and it’s completely normal to feel unwell sometimes. Many people with a visual impairment experience similar feelings. These feelings can manifest as both psychological and physical symptoms, such as fatigue, headaches, or reduced interest in activities.”
At the Amsterdam UMC, they take these complaints seriously. That is why they now offer support for this. This support consists of step-by-step, customized care, built up from four levels:
👁️ 1. Awareness: talking about the situation, without active help.
👁️ 2. A self-help course.
👁️ 3. Conversations: individual sessions with a care provider focused on problem solving.
👁️ 4. Further support: additional options, possibly in collaboration with your GP.
To investigate whether this support is effective, Rob van der Linden is looking for participants for this step-by-step, tailor-made care.
