Generous donation by the Avento Foundation

Many thanks to the Avento Foundation for their generous donation to the Cure ADOA Foundation!

We are extremely happy and grateful that the Avento Foundation is making a significant contribution to research by Stanford University for the treatment of ADOA(-plus).

The mission of the Avento Foundation is to support initiatives that are in line with their objectives. This includes improving (medical) healthcare, stimulating medical research and innovation in treatment methods, as well as providing humanitarian and development assistance worldwide and defending human rights. They perform all further actions that are related to the above in the broadest sense or that may be conducive to this.

The donation will go towards the groundbreaking research into the cure for Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA-plus) in collaboration with Stanford University. In this way we contribute to research into the cure for ADOA, which is a unique opportunity for us as the Cure ADOA Foundation.

In ADOA patients, the optic nerve is damaged, causing vision to deteriorate. Sometimes this decline is already quite significant during the first eye examination of children at the age of 3 at the child health clinic. The solution lies in allowing optic nerve cells to regrow. The Stanford research team, led by leading scientists Professor Jeffrey Goldberg and Dr. Marius Wernig, has made promising steps in regrowing optic nerve cells. The research focuses specifically on repairing damaged optic nerve cells. This development is vital for people suffering from ADOA.
Thank you very much, Avento Foundation, for your support and commitment to our mission to cure ADOA(-plus).
