We are very proud to announce that ADOA has been officially included in a recognized Center of Expertise for Rare Disorders (ECZA). This involves an expansion of the existing Center of Expertise for Hereditary Eye Diseases and Central Serous Chorioretinopathy.
This center of expertise is a joint initiative of Amsterdam UMC and LUMC, in close and permanent collaboration with Bartiméus in Zeist. Additionally, this center is part of the European reference network ERN-EYE, through which knowledge sharing and international cooperation are strengthened.
Through this recognition, specialist care, diagnostics, and scientific research into ADOA (and ADOA-plus) in the Netherlands have been further consolidated and made more accessible.
For patients, this means:
- shorter diagnostic pathways;
- better guidance in daily life; and
- a faster connection to international clinical trials into potential treatments.
