Valuable contacts at EUNOS Rotterdam 2024

Last week the Cure ADOA Foundation was present at EUNOS2024, a four-day conference focusing on the field of Neuro-ophthalmology. This field focuses on all neurological disorders of the eye, such as ADOA(-plus).

After a successful Giant Walking Tour, these were another four fantastic days. We spoke to ophthalmologists from all over the world. One by one they took leaflets with them and signed up for our newsletter. 

There were also medical luminaries in the field of ADOA(-plus), such as Nancy Newman and Patrick Yu-Wai-Man, who came to visit us especially at our stand to discuss the latest developments in research into ADOA(-plus) . And we were invited by a medical eye specialist in training (AIOS) to tell our story during a meeting with other AIOSs.

Kirsten Smit's artwork that hung in the reception hall made a great impression on everyone. The conference opened on Tuesday morning with an interview between Dr. Jan Willem Pott and Kirsten about her life with ADOA, but of course especially about her art. 

During the conference we also visited other stands, such as those of the Heidelberg company. Hedy, Peter and Inge (who spontaneously came to help us) had the latest OCTs made here, which are used anonymously in a database as examples of ADOA(-plus).

It was a particularly valuable experience, where we learned and shared a lot and were even able to relax a bit during drinks at Diergaarde Blijdorp after an interesting story by Drs. Tjeerd de Faber from the Eye Hospital in Rotterdam. Very good to notice that professionals know where to find us and recognize us when they see us walking.
