Ryan calls for attention for ADOA during the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship
The 2026 PDC World Darts Championship kicked off on December 11, 2025. Ryan Searle also qualified for this tournament, which is watched by a large audience worldwide. This year, he shared his story with viewers: his ADOA diagnosis and that of his children. His daughter's life, in particular, has been affected by it.
Ryan eventually reached the semi-finals of the tournament. A fantastic result and a great inspiration for everyone with a visual impairment.
Ryan for the Cure ADOA Foundation
During the 2026 World Darts Championship, Ryan Searle shares his personal story with Viaplay Netherlands presenter Arjan van der Giessen. He also mentions the Cure ADOA Foundation and the work we do. The interview resonates not only with Arjan van der Giessen but also with the people in the studio. They then appeal for support for the foundation.
Thanks to the attention during the tournament, over £20,000 in donations are raised from fans and we receive £15,000 from Harrows Darts and €15,000 from Paddy Power, the main sponsor of the World Cup. In the semi-final, even the sponsor's logo and advertisements were blurred, as a reference to Ryan's visual impairment.
Harrows Darts supports Ryan and the mission of Cure ADOA Foundation
Ryan is affiliated with Harrows as a professional darts player. Through Ryan's personal story and his commitment to the Cure ADOA Foundation, Harrows has also become involved in our mission.
We are incredibly grateful for that. The support from Harrows helps us raise more awareness for ADOA and make research into treatment possible. The attention on their social media channels and the donation of £15.000 during the World Darts Championship are therefore of great value to us.
